Pesach at Sacks Morasha

Tuesday 7 May, 2019 | Events

We celebrated Pesach at school with different Sederim, which were adapted to suit the needs of the children and all were designed to be stimulating and enjoyable ahead of ‘the real thing’. Each child in Reception had the opportunity to present part of the Seder and interacted with their teachers in a vivid retelling of the Pesach story. Years 1 and 2 enjoyed a more traditional-style mock Seder as the older children led the rest in each stage of the Seder, leading the way with Divrei Torah, songs and, of course, eating! A particular highlight was the visit of a very large frog, usually known as Rabbi Lawrence, who came to sing with the children, as well as send them into the Pesach break with some ‘ribbiting’ words of Torah!

Years 3 and 4 were split into their houses and competed in a series of Pesach challenges including making their own grape juice, finding the pieces of the Korech sandwich that were hidden around the Hall, and Years 5 and 6 began with chavruta learning, with Year 6 partnering with their parents, to consider the theme of ‘Freedom’ more deeply. Some Year 6 children then shared their poems based on Dayenu with some very moving and meaningful contributions from them all. We finished with a Kahoot Pesach quiz, a lemon-eating contest (we thought horseradish would have been too mean!) and a rousing Hallel and Nirtzah sing-a-long.

Purim week was a blast!

Monday 25 March, 2019 | Events

From our ‘Back To Front’ Day, via ‘Crazy Hat and Hair Day’, to Purim itself, the staff and students threw themselves into the Purim spirit! Everyone made a fantastic effort – especially the 22 girls and boys who read the Megilla for us so beautifully, accurately and confidently. We raised almost £900 for Jewish Care in our Zumbathon and gave Mishloach Manot to friends, as well as donating plenty to GIFT. For plenty more photos and other news, see our Facebook page.
