We celebrated another milestone with our Year 2 children when they were presented with their first Chumash (Bereshit). The children put on a show for the parents to enjoy and were also given an opportunity to do some learning with their parents too. It was a very special morning and we were very proud of all the children.
Pupil Blog: Difference between organic and non-organic foods
This week’s post is by Adela Hasbani, Year 6:
This week’s newsletter is about organic and non-organic foods. What’s the reason to why most people prefer and eat organic and not any ordinary food? Here’s the explanation why. Organic fruit/veg is produced essentially, as it’s not like any other type of food. Organic fruit/veg grows naturally from the ground and soil [the soils enriched with a lot of nutrition’s which makes the plant healthy]. The way which organic food is made is: The farmers plant their seeds in the ground, they feed it sunshine and water which makes it grow strong, then after a couple of weeks, the farmer sees the food is ready to be eaten and he sells it. Organic fruit/veg is healthier as it involves antioxidants which is extremely healthy and does not contain any of the harmful chemicals which are used in non-organic foods.
Here is one of the chemicals which are stored inside them – hormones. It’s taken care with very specially as the farmers spend lots of time growing it due to it being produced in a healthier and natural way. It’s very popular these days and many people now enjoy eating it!
I hope you have all learnt abour organic goods and their nutrition and minerals, and will start to eat organically.
National Book Day
We’ve had a fantastic day celebration of National Book Day at Sacks Morasha today. Children came to school wearing a hat inspired by their favourite book, enjoyed an assembly where children in Year 5 and 6 read some Mr Men stories, created bookmarks, made biscuits with their favourite Mr Men characters and enjoyed a fairy tales workshop by Perform.
Author visit
We had a visit from author Judy Mann, creator of the Pete Stories. She spoke to children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. It was lovely listening to her inspire the children and we thank her for coming in to school.
Torah Workshop
Year 2 children enjoyed an interactive Torah workshop by charity Tzivos Hashem. They learnt about how a Sefer Torah is made and had an opportunity to write on parchment with a quill and ink.
