This week, Sacks Morasha welcomed professional GB athlete Victoria Ohuruogu into their school for a fitness workshop with the children (and even some teachers!).
Victoria set up a sponsored circuit and for each year group, motivating and encouraging them along the way.
The event was part of the ‘Sports for School’ initiative which aims to help children be more physically active and raises money to provide additional sports equipment and PE support in schools. The circuit was followed by a motivational assembly from Victoria who spoke to the children about ‘Perseverance and Determination’ as they learnt about her journey to becoming a British Athletics Champion in 400m Sprint.
One child remarked ‘I loved the workshop and meeting Victoria, a professional GB athlete is amazing and something I will never forget.’Headteacher Mrs Barbabel commented “It was a great experience for the children to understand that becoming a champion for Victoria was something that was earnt through hard work and patience (with a lot of set backs along the way) and not just given. It was a fun and meaningful and we all gained a lot from it.”
